Modern Monday: Vintage Staircase

Modern Monday’s inspiration is this traditional white staircase dressed in vintage gold accessories. These elegant gold mirrors in various sizes and shapes bring visual interest and light to the staircase and wood floor hallway. You can consider duplicating this concept for your hanging collectibles. That stunning crystal and gold chandelier complements the mirrors and white space perfectly.

Modern Monday: Deco Details

Modern Monday is a nod to the exquisite Art Deco style in the lobby of Claridges Hotel in London from 1935. This lobby, as well as other areas in this hotel was revamped with designs by Guy Oliver who believes that interior design is about telling a story.

Art Deco is a Parisian design style that influenced architecture, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, trains and much more. It first appeared just prior to WWI. It is experiencing a rebirth which you currently see in new automobile design.

Does your design tell your story? If not, why not?

Modern Monday: Metallic Harvest Gold

Modern Monday celebrates the lush harvest gold velvet lounges of Coast in BC. These space has a succulent, moody vibe with joyous overtones.

The color is opulent yet welcoming. The metallic gold surfaces on the base of the furniture, accent tables and chandelier lighting reflect the light like rays of sun. The metallic wall panels infuse more color, texture and visual interest further accented by the placement of lighting.

This is a must stop while you are in B.C. Luxury design at its finest.

Modern Monday: Velvet Daydreams

Modern Monday is a romantic interlude with dreamy green velvet sofas, ceiling to floor windows dressed in white pleated fabric, global artifacts and sculpture, a range of natural substrates and topped off with a dynamic geometric gold chandelier. I particularly like the green glass vases, wood box, concrete vase of grass on the side wood console and the frame art above it. The bar cart in the front left-hand side of the photograph repeats the metal and adds luminosity with the mirrors that echo the sunlight flowing through the windows.

Doesn’t this room make you want to lounge all afternoon with a stack of fashion magazines and juicy book? How would you use this space?
